Photo of Pevensey model
« on: June 19, 2005, 03:56:36 PM »
Hi Dia,
I have managed to 'squeeze; a photo of a model of P,S Pevensey into
the Files|Aussie Paddlers|Pevensey section, built by an Echuca Paddler, for
your information and comparision.

Info:
LOA about 53inch ( from the Port of Echuca Plan I think )
Motor : single12 volt Car Windsceen Wiper driving both fixed paddles, no differential, but
has a speed controller.
Materials : Timber & Marine Ply,
note: the 'red' deck timber on the sponsons is Murray River Red Gum ( its natural colour)
and rhe builder says he would "never" use it for a model
again -- its difficult to work & its prone to water staining !!
( it would eventually turn a steel gray on the exterior, remaining red inside)
-- the grey deck area is ply to simulate the steel decking of the original.

Paint Job : very similar to the original , full sized, Pevensey moored nearby -- nothing like
having the actual boat to copy.

Scale Features : -- just enough to look right !! - he mentioned that a previous model
had many extra scale features -- that kept getting knocked off !!
-- the cables to the towing mast are hat elastic, made to be broken if the
boat gets caught up in low branches, etc.

Cheers,
Brett
