Sidewheeler STELLA made out of junk

Hi PD's
On Sunday morning went to see some RC model boats to see if any
paddlers turned up. They had battle ships,tugboats,submarines and
steam tugs. Then all of a sudden up turns a sidewheel paddle tug!
When I spoke to the owner he advised me that a mate of his had built
this boat out of junk. After blinking a couple of times he showed me
what he meant. Hull: normal frames and sheathed with 2mm cane, then
filled and resined over. Stack: atomizer spray can with wire glued
around the top to give the appearance. Deck hatches: 2 cent coins
filed to the rounded shape and glued on. Water line: curtain wire
glued to hull. Paddle covers: tin cans scored to give timber
appearance. When you look closely at the top of the mast and sitting
on a hatch cover are seagulls crafted out of moulding clay and
painted, same with the captain and mate. The paddler was named after
the owners Aunt Stella.
I have posted 4 photos in our photo section (can't fit any more as I
am running out of room). The boat runs well and sits nicely in the
water.
It was a good morning outing.
