Not nit picking, but I think the funnels black top is too deep, and Eddy's right about thr rake and height.
When you get to it, the masts are at the same rake angle as the funnels.

Hi Sandy I think you are right about the black of my funnel tops, think I could do with making the white band deeper. Once my new funnel bases are made I will correct the rake angle. The funnels are designed to fit down in to the base's to secure them which well shorten their height. Hoping to get that done beginning of week. Cheers for all comments they are helpfull, first on Waverley when I was about four or five and fell in love with her. She's probably the reason I got in to paddle steamers, love the Para handy stories and got a Caldercraft North light puffer, but plan to give it it's own name. A bit of topic there!! Keep the comments coming in.

     Cheers James

Some pictures showing the funnel bases...
first one is taken from the port side, just behind the forward deck house (you can see the edge of it on the left of the picture) looking at the front of the forward funnel base (at the time, the crew ladder had been altered and covered by a 'cage', which can also be seen) it shows how the base itself is not very much bigger than the funnel... next two show the back of the same then front of the aft funnel base which are more square (but still have rounded corners) and 'stick out' enough for the hatches fitted into the tops of them. finally a side view shows how there's quite a big space between the two...
I hope they are of some help  ;D
edit; by the way, I didn't take the last photo (don't remember who did!), found it on line, it's older and shows the crew ladder in it's original position

Thanks for the pics really good and clear, the ladder up to the bridge is still caged. My model will have the ladder going down towards the rear as I personally prefer it that way.

At last got some more work done on the Waverley, this is the problem having more than one hobby!! I am also in to classic cars and when spring comes I need to work on them to get them ready for the show season. This means my boat takes a back seat and only really gets work done when time permits and the weather is too bad to be out working on the cars (which lately means I have been working quite a lot on the boat!!). I will post some pics soon have been working on the bridge and forward observation shelter. Was having problems lining up the bridge so decided to make temp bridge support poles. These are part of the stanchions and I am having problems finding suitable ones as they need to be 3 ball with spike. I was at my local model center in Paisley on Monday getting bits and asking for some advice the person I was talking to asked me about paddlewheels for it and I said I was not sure yet but liked the ones by Clyde model boats as they are the right scale and look really good and good quality, I asked him if he could recommend anyone and replied by saying he recommended the man behind me... yes it was Kim himself!! If you are reading this then HI!! ;D I talked to him for a wee bit (hope you weren't in a hurry!!) Just to say what a real genuine and nice guy Kim is and hope to do a lot of business with him and also Hi to his wife who was there.

Thanks for that Kim, hope to get pics up soon just my camera takes them at such a large size I need to rescale them a lot to get them to upload. Been trying to wire up the navigation lights. They will be wired to the wheel house and captains cabin lights on a different system to the rest of the lights, Think I have manged to get the bridge lined up right (notice I said "think" lol :D). Well guess I should really start to re-size those pics (hate doing that takes so long!!). Thanks for reading

Hi James,

Slightly off topic but regarding the image re sizing - i use the microsoft image re-sizer add on ( Is that the right jargon .... I'm no whizz kid with computery stuff lol )

Dead easy to use just right click the image and choose your size.

Hi all if you have been reading Mercury's thread on his model Waverley you will see I have found out my hull is not as wide as it should be, due to inaccurate plans (not saying who drew them in case they are a member!!). Wouldn't have minded if the site had said the plans were 1/48 off scale and not necessarily the right dimensions. If anyone can tell me where I can get a good set of proper sized plans I would be most grateful. I don't want to have to build a new hull not just due to the cost, but feel my current one is still pretty good and would be a shame to waste. A 1/2 of an inch might not seem much to some but on here everyone will probably know it can make a BIG difference. I think I have worked out the 1/2 inch would have made my waterways down each side, giving me that wee bit more space for decking down the side's of the superstructures making it look that wee bit better. Still got to re-size my pics just that doing that takes time from working on the boat it's self!!

Jamesie boy,
You might have picked up my very earl plan of WAVERLEY, for the beam to be different.
My cousin was the captain on her at that time and I managed to photo the drawings but it never came out right.
When I submitted it to MODEL BOATS magazine back in 1976, they also mucked it about, so I eventualled redrew it  in the late 1980's, also sent it to MARINE MODELLER.
If you look at my drawing of the JEANIE DEANS, you'll see how they changed the funnel sizes before putting it to press.

Hi Sandy it does appear to be your early plan I have, I noticed on another thread you had signed off with your full name and it's the same as on my plan. I also seen your post on "rough water" was that model made to that plan? It looks very much like the plan, it's a really good looking model. By the way I hope I haven't offended you when talking about the plan  :sorry. I will have to look out the Jeanie Deans plan I got at the same time. Think I might need to redo my front lounge windows on the hull  :(  they seem a bit low.

Not had much to show on Waverley, for a while all the work has been theoretic on different parts as to how best make them. As stated in a previous post I forgot to make the hull sides slightly higher than deck height to make the water ways down the sides. I had thought of using tin foil to cover the whole hull and make the necessary alteration's to the hull side's. This idea has now been replaced by the thinking of fiber glass. I have bought fibre glass tape which I have experimented on, and I can use on the hull and make the necessary height adjustments to the hull. So that is the CURRENT!! Idea. (just hope as the tape is quite heavy matte it won't add to much weight to the hull.)

Hi Jamesie,
If it is of any help, - I fit the deck flush with the hull top, then fit a styrene strip to form the outer edge of the waterway.
All the best,
Pete.
