Hi Derek & PD's,

Thanks for your input on searching for a Stuart D10. Sounds great but a few days too late. The T2GR is on order. However, if another project comes about in which a D10 would do the job, this source will be quite handy.

Hi PD's.......there are many fundamental construction differences   between the Stuart & the Saito Iran....

However I am sure you will appreciate your T2GR..... in due course

May I ask......

1. did you source your T2GR from ... LOYALHANNA DOCKYARD..... LHDockyard@aol.com ..?
2. what is the quoted delivery?

Hi PD's...Derek,

In the interest of keeping expenses as low as possible, I purchased the T2GR engine from a hobby vendor in Japan. Getting through the Japanese was an adventure but it worked out very nicely. Saito engines are all built to order and do take some time to get them in hand. As an example, I am just finishing my Dusseldorf Fireboat and as soon as it is off the workbench I am going to start on the Saito Delta Queen. I ordered the Y2DR from a Hobby Shop in Finland 3 months ago (Engine for Saito Delta Queen on another thread). They quoted about 12 weeks and it is now in the process of clearing customs. I should see that engine in about a week or so. I do plan on a build thread for the Delta queen. I am in no great rush for the T2GR. That project is way down the line.

I am going to use Maccsteam for my Boilers as they appear to have a very good reputation both in safety and ease of use. The Saito Delta Queen is setup for a Saito Boiler but I am guessing that there will be other reputable boilers that will fit nicely into the space allocated. Once I start installing the Y2GR into the Delta Queen I am sure I will have a lot of question.

  ...but I think it is the Y2DR he is talking about

This will be very interesting to hear about the Saito design plan for the Y2DR & the drive mechanism to the stern wheel & also the net effective drive ratio between the engine output shaft & the paddle wheel input shaft......Derek
