I have been making a working model of a square-rigger for longer than I care to remember

I am on the point of completing the standing rigging, sails etc are all complete, roll on the launch

Not only that, but nearing trials too!

I assume it is also fitted with a motor and prop?

Yes, fitted with 385 motor and 30mm plastic prop basically inset into the rudder.   Experience with a Thames barge suggests that a blip of power is a good way to avoid irons.

She has sailed rigged only once - at midnight and after the ice was lifted out of the pond!

Who says this is a sedentary sport?

Top model. I find the standing rigging the most interesting part of the build.

Sorry that should be west country. Photo 2 shows about a quarter of the metal fitting made.

Having trouble sailing this model. Will not turn into wind. I will have to furl all of the jib sails. to get the center of pressure right. R.G.Y.
