i bought a model of the Graupner Glasgow 50% ready, complete with fittings, wheels and a Wilesco D48 steam plant for 140,- GBP on eBay :wink:

My idea is now not to make another Glasgow there are so many, i'd like to have something special. In the book "Fifty years of Naval Tugs by Bill Hannan" i found the tug "Cracker" on from the Dromedary class. Who knows where could i find some drawings about this tug. The dimensions are around a scale of 1:43 quiet a good scale.

Every help would be very appreciated.

Hi Hans,  Does the book tell you where the "Cracker" was built and by which company?  If so a search of the relevant records department may find plans.  If built on the Clyde plans will probably be available from the Mitchell Library in Glasgow or from the Scottish Maritime Museum Research Department in Irvine.

Hi Hans. The Glasgow lends itself to alteration to many UK paddle tugs mainly by changing the scale and altering the rather strange paddle boxes and superstructure and adding a much larger funnel. Have a look at  BRTISH STEAM TUGS by P.N.THOMAS published by Waine research  publications ISBN 0 905184 07 6 it has222 pages of scale drawings including a number of paddle tugs - well worth looking at and I  think it was reprinted recently. One likely plan is the John Amos, similiar to Cracker in many ways. Also look in STEAM TUGS by David L Williams, published by IAN ALLAN PUBLISHING  ISBN 071102857 5  there are several good quality colour photos of paddle tuge in there. Also somewhere in the paddleducks plans there should be a set of drawings for a Thames paddle tug ( two funnels) which i have seen built using a Glasgow kit. There are many ideas floating around in my head and when I can get them into order I will post further ideas!  Regards, walter.
