I'm looking for details re supposed sale of engine(s) from PS Jupiter to Japanese for scrap. The engines were said to be in good running order and from the Lady Augusta too.

Which Jupiter are you talking about,
the 1896 GSWR one, scrapped in December 1935 at Barrow-in-Furness
Or the 1937 CSP steamer, scrapped in 1961 in Dublin?

Alistar....the Jupitor/Lady Augusta build was the 1896 GSWR official number 55590 & the last report from Parsons was in 1969

The Jupiter's I mentioned were Clyde paddle steamers in Scotland.

I think you must be talking about a different Jupiter on the River Murray in Australia

Hi all,
These are the two Jupiters that Alistair mentioned, built and operated on the Clyde...quite different to the one shipped to Australia.
At least two other Jupiters have also operated on the Clyde, and another on the Thames at one point I think.
Just seems Jupiter was a popular name worldwide, throughout the steam era and beyond!
