Has anyone got a copy of the paddle wheel building instruction they could let me have a copy of.  I have just ordered what appears to be the last set of brass etchings but no instruction are available so I can only guess the detasils such as hubs, spacers or anything not included on the etched sheet of brass. It would be most helpful if someone can assist me making these wheels. On a slightly different topic I have almost finished a twin cylinder paddle oscillator using the Miranda engine sort of arranged upside down, ran very well on ait so soon will try steam. Hopefully comparison picture has been attached. John S.

Hello,

I'm looking for line drawings for the hull of Monarch. I would like to build a 1:12 scale model of her, I have found good photos which I can glean information from for the side profile, and details on the deck, but don't really know how to design the frames up to get the correct shape.

As a model the hull would measure 42" length, and 7.3/4" wide, and 13.5/6" over the sponsons. Paddle wheels of 4" diameter.

My guess on the models location would be Manchester or London. The science museum group encompasses several museums, including Locomotion and York railway museum. I could make some enquiries to try and locate which museum it's currently housed, if you would like?

I found several pictures primary about the redbrown model and one of the grey model at: SCIENCE MUSEUM COLLECTION. But i don`t find any advice about the location of the models. Yet - the pictures of different views wil get some help for building a model.

Dear friends and neighbors,

found the very fine Danube steamer SZOFIA HERCZEGNO, later SZABADSAG, build 1913/14 by Dresdener Maschinenbau AG. I draw a plan in scale 1 : 50 for live steam model. For the function model the very flat hull should be slightly elevated (15 mm), also widened with 40mm - what I did in my drawings.

With a lenght of 1400 mm and a draught of 35 mm deplacement will be about 7 kg.

here are some pictures of the COURIER with new engine of Rocket loco, the PRINZ CARL with oscillating engine, the Danube fourwheel steamer TACHTALIA with two oscillating engines and the MARCHIONES of LORNE with Graham slide engine. Weather was fine in the last week, so there was a joy of driving and to take pictures.

Thanks for that Derek. I enjoy woodworking, so I'm wanting to build the boat in the same way the original was. No Red Gum over here, so I'll probably use one of our equivalent natives like Rimu or Kauri. It would be great if the plan shows the construction method used in the fullsize.

I've had a search on the internet for photo's that show the internal construction of the Murray river paddlers - how the ribs etc were built, but no luck so far. Do you have any ideas where I might find that sort of information, if it's not already on the plan?

One of the reasons for wanting to build in 1/12 scale is so that I can replicate that sort of detail.
