Hello all,
I hopefully enclose better pictures of the John H. Amos at moorings on barge, near the 'Blue Boar Pier' Rochester,near the so called 'Regeneration Area' of Rochester, under this report.
I can only presume that the shot was on a 'mobile' and a chance shot, lucky to get anything under the circumstances, and well done.
As Webmaster for the John H. Amos, I can only say, it is a matter of the waiting game re funds, not too helpful under the present economic circumstances. Even the Historic Ships Committee are looking at putting all under a communal heading, re 'Core' and 'Designated' group. as one group, what a 'Whopping Group' that will be.
However, I could go and on about our 'Historic Ships' future, I feel at times we are heading to a economic 'Whirlpool'  As for the local authority input, will say no more.
But then who wants to listen to an 82 year oldie's rant-lings today, that could see all this coming.

There are a few mentions of using the Graupner Glasgow as a basis for a model of John H Amos.
This is one way granted but involves a bit of kit butchery. Mobile Marine Models produce a number of  GRP model tug hulls including "Lady T" which is very similar to the "Glasgow" hull.

Hello all,

On 13th March 2009 the John H Amos and Portal Narvik were moved from moorings at Rochester and towed in turn by the GPS tugs Friston Down and Haulier to a tidal berth on the River Medway in Chatham Docks (St Marys Island).
This means initial work can now begin. The first jobs will be to clean the vessel and begin a comprehensive recording programme.

So things are looking good for three UK paddlers at the moment, Medway Queen, John H Amos, and Maid of the Loch.

What a marvelous commendation to the bands of volunteers that have struggled for many years to save these precious vessels!
