I am Thomas Lamb and Live in Lynnwood Washington near Seattle.

I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1935 and moved from Scotland to USA in 1966.

I served my apprenticeship as a Shipwright in HM Dockyard Rosyth and afterwards attended King;s College, Durham University in Newcastle upon Tyne where I graduated with an Honors BSc in Naval Architecture.  My career has been over 50 years in shipyards and design offices with another (most recent) 11 years as a Research Scientist and Adjunct Professor in the Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan.

I have built ship models in the past, mainly British sailing ships, but in recent years have NOT had the time to do so.

I have a fine collection of 15 large model ships, mostly from a builders in Vet Nam.  My most recent model is of the PS WAVERLEY which I had specially built for myself.

PS Waverley is a beautiful subject for a model and very popular as she is still sailing

I have just noticed your photographic images in an earlier thread

Oh & BTW.....we sometimes get questions &  :ranting about hull designs & the like .....so someone with your experience in Naval Architecture will be able to help  :c017

Welcome Thomas from just south of you in Portland Oregon- there is a good active boat club in Seattle actually based at a hobby shop in Lynnwood..Do you know of the NW R/C Ship Modelers?

http://www.shipmodelers.com/shipmodelers.com/Club_Welcome.html

I know some of their members and the president as they are a sister club to mine here in Portland--I hope to have my paddle tug at their annual float this May or June!!

welcome!!
