Hi All
My name is Tony and have just come across this interesting site.
I have recently completed a 6 foot (1/72 scale), scratch built model of HMS Warrior (1860) It is powered by steam and controlled with 6 channel radio control equipment.
Looking for a new project I am thinking of building a model of the Great Eastern which of course has paddle wheels as well as a screw.
Would anyone have or know where plans might be available. I have many photographs but have been unable to locate drawings/plans.
Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony ... and welcome!

Do you have any pictures of your ;Warrior' you could post (in the non-paddler powered boat section)?

As the ironclad period is my main interest your model is of great interest!

Cheers...........Bernie

Hi Bernie
Would be delighted to post some pictures but I connot figure out how to do that. Adding them to the attachment option does not seem to work. Any ideas? I,m not usually as thick as this but it has got me beat.

Hi Neil
Thanks for that. Looks like it could be a good source of information.
Thanks again

Hi Tony

I too had a frustrating time trying to post pictures.

What is the problem you are getting.?

One needs to make sure the pictures are smallish to overcome the size limitations. I use 480x640 sizing them in Microsoft Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Another tip...when posting pic attachments ALWAYS make a copy of your text because this gets lost when an error message occurs. When you finally resolve the problems you can just paste it back into the text box of a new post.

Hope I'm making sense.

Cheers........Bernie

And sails!?
I'll definitely be watching this thread.

....and loads of masts (5?) and funnels (5?)...

I too, even though I didn't mention it in earlier posts, will be watching this project with great interest!

I seem to recall seeing some postings on this subject from a while back?

Cheers......Bernie

I haven't finally decided yet but would like to finish up with something around 7 to 8 feet in length whatever scale that might be.
I'm considering construction out of metal but haven't really thought it through yet. Steam powered of course.
