what is the size of the hull? did you mold the glassfibre hull you're self or did you buy It?

I built a f/glass hull for the Waverley, - the last model I built back in 1991.
It took about 6 months to make a plaster model and then a 2 piece female mould from which to take the final moulding. This time I've used a hull from Models by Design.
It is in the region of 54 inches long. I'll put a picture of the Waverley modeln in the gallery.

That's looking great, and very 'professionally' built - makes my method look a total bodge-job!

It is a very nice build hope to see some more pics of progress soon.
A nice looking Waverly you have made. Did you keep your mold for the Waverly would you be interested in casting a hull ?

Re the mould for the Waverley, I'm afraid I had to leave that abroad when I flew home.
The model itself was sold to a Scottish gentleman who had vivid memories of sailing on the Waverley as a child.

Not a lot of progress this summer, due to family weddings, births etc.
However, tests of the propulsion, ballast and r/c have been completed and I have uploaded a few more photos to 'My Gallery'.
Has anyone got a recommendation for a suitable smoke unit to replicate the diesel exhaust for this vessel?

She's looking good!
Not to sure what smoke unit i would recommend for a diesel - maybe one of the Graupner units?
or make your own?

Took your advice Kim and made my own. Picture of bench-test in the gallery.
Used a Maplins mini-fogger, a computer fan and a voltage step unit to give 24vdc from 12vdc. Draws 1.1 amps. Tank is suspended from fwd superstructure. Re-filling is down the funnel!

Hi Pete.

I, also have been experimenting with the Maplins foggers. I've found the best voltage to operate it was 28volts DC. There was much more smoke than the 24 volts and it seems to run the oscillator quite happily.

That aside, in an effort to eliminate a second battery, could you advise me on the voltage step up unit please.
