This  opulence of details is really asthonishing. The model will be nearly too good for a function model. The floors, the saloon and also the engine cylinder are certainly made very close to the original. A point of interest, 60 Buick: Do you know other "Chaperon"functional models? I suggest, the very exact kit in most cases will be built as static models.

Thank you for the compliments. The gearbox is a Tamiya "high power gear box". They are in most hobby shops. They make several different styles. They are inexpensive and light weight but a little noisy. The ratio is adjustable from 47.1 to 1 or 64.8 to 1. I use the slower ratio, it is a 4.5 volt motor but that's to fast. Mine likes 1 volt for slow operation. It does the trick in a small boat as long as there is no bind in the mechanism. I had a little bind so I loosened the gearbox screws to give it room to move where it mounts and that eased it's operation from binding. I have an 11.1 lipo for the boat so I am hoping I can dial down the end points on a speed control to keep the output under 2 volts.  If not I may run the motor off a smaller low voltage battery and the sound and smoke off the 11.1.

I have not seen anyone make this particular kit functional. It is not a difficult job to do as long as you plan to do so from the beginning of the build. Every build thread I have found on it in various forums they did build it as a static model.
