I will be interested to see where/how this Pot Belly is located in the vessel Victor......if fuel is not a cost issue, they produce a great heat output

You have a horizontal spade type flue throttle, the unit I had experience with used a rotary disk type throttle [you will need some asbestos type gloves to save the ]

Having a brass flue chimney, this material in itself is a superb radiator [by convection] of heat if you can contain the heat in the chimney

Either way absolutely great for warming a semi insulated semi enclosed area......ideal for the coffee pot...with a little experience with the outer filigree belly ring...also great for cooking toast & anything you can fit in a small pan......

Hello everyone.

I got a lucky break in the weather this morning , so I installed the chimney drop box.



There`s a big hole in the roof !



It fits ok .........





Double skin going through the ceiling .



I covered the air vent slots with fine metal mesh.



Inside the chimney liner.

Framing around the drop box is in place.





Checking ceiling plate for fit.







Bottom of the drop box is flush with the ceiling.

The rain stopped any more work ( on the roof) today , so thats it until next weekend.

I wasn`t going to do any more work until Saturday , but I went into the shed tonight , and did some more work on the ceiling plate .

I made a shallow surround for the ceiling plate and put some brass channel around the edges to make the plate a little more rigid.
It was bowing under its own weight !

The shallow sides are cut from a length of recycled galv. stormwater downpipe , and the brass channel came from an old trashed fire screen.

That was another two hours work believe it or not ......maybe I`m just slow 

 

8.2 Degrees C ( 46.7 F) outside , but toasty warm inside the cabin space.

Very good Victor...we see plenty of Australian RED wood heater feed  ...but where is the  pot or the mmmmmmmmarsh mellows for toasting?

My stove top kettle is broken Derek 

Must get a new one.

Great way to recycle scrap build timber mate. 

It also helps with the clean up , burn it , and keep warm , rather than dump it ..... 

I must say , all that foam insulation is doing its job Damien , that little heater is almost overkill for the cabin , and it stays warm !

I`m very pleased 

 

Will this be finished for April?  RMBOA is running a ramble from Greenings to Moorook over 10 days, plus an express return for the large boats which aren't trailable.
