I notice the same registration plate number STA 07011 is attached to

1) the BMW 2000C
2) the Renault Alpine
3) the Citreon SM

Is this normal in Germany?....in OZ we must have individual registration plates for individual vehicles.... ..

in Germany, as well as in Switzerland we know such a kind of collectors registration. You will get one plate for all the cars you have registrated for changing it between the cars. And you have to note all drivings. In Germany only permitted for collectors cars driving to club meetings and for repair,calibrating or selling drivings. But as you know, especially the french cars have to be checked and calibrated very often after enduring repairs! Ad this only can be done under loads, so the family has to drive with me.

Hello Derek, in the UK there is a desire to retain a "cherished" number and transfer it between the vehicles you own. This can only be displayed on one vehicle at a time and the transfer fee payable to the government agency is I believe £80 / transfer. I have never done this yet because I've never got to the stage of cherishing a reistration. You can always retain a cherished number on a retention certificate and this also incurs a fee plus a double transfer fee, for the instances where you have yet to get the vehicle you want the number to be displayed on. Interestingly the right to display a registration number can be revooked for no apparent reason and could in theory arise if someone else were to pay the DVLA enough to get the number taken out of circulation. Someone may want to do so but I wouldn't like to think just how much the DVLA may want to ask for that to happen.
There is a possibility of me wanting to keep the reg I have on my car at present simply because I've had it for so long  8 1/2 years now for this car, the longest time ever I've owned a vehicle.

Hi PD's ...& thanks Jim....& the premise here in OZ is .....telephone the Police

...my car has just been crashed into by a brand new Y2008 silver Holden number plate XYX123

...is the response from the Police....registration plate XYX123 is listed on our computers  as being a 27 Year old Ford ZEPHA....or hold on also to a 1965 Morris Minni Cooper S....or hold on.....also to a ...see my question  ...

Then Inspector PLOD suggests that I stay by my crashed into vehicle & await the local Police for a blood test as I must have clearly been  to get the description of the registered car so STUFFED UP

Until fairly recently, I hadn't realised that the DVLA 'withhold' certain number/letter combinations... such as DEV1L, 666RIP etc. and anything else they think may look offensive...
