Can anyone help?

I'm after some round brass stanchions - 3 rail with a pin for a wooden capping rail. They need to be 16-18mm high.

I need around 700-800 of these things, so if anyone knows of a source I'd be very grateful - After searching the usual UK suppliers I use I've drawn a complete blank!

Hello Eddie,I searched Harbor tugs and Ships N Things here in the US with no luck.Have you seen this type of stanchon offered before?These places offer your typical three ball brass stanchons.This sounds like something that you might have to fabricate.Good god 700-800 thats quite a few!! Walter

I've seen two ball stanchions with a pin for a capping rail, but so far I've found nothing with three rails.

I can see me ending up making the rails by soldering brass rod together in a jig. It won't look perfect, but if needs must....

Have you tried James Lane. I guess you've seen his style of stanchion. He shows something similar to what you want in his list, but I'm sure he could make something special up for you -  especially in those quantities.

Those are the ones used on this model of Medway Queen,

they are (apparently) made using two halves of brass rod with a D shaped cross section, the 'balls' are made by folding the rod around a former so, when the two halves are brought together they leave circular holes for the rails...

  I am not a modeller, but I think I    remember somebody who gave a talk to the PSPS Scottish branch saying that he    made rails and stanchions from the parts of plastic kits that the parts are    attached to, is it called scurf, I am not sure, but the framework of the sets    of parts that remain after all the parts have been broken.cut off
