Constructing a working rudder on Waverley

Greetings from Oz!
Our plans of the Waverley show a rudder attached to the rear of the
hull by a hinge, with no visible means of controlling it. Any one
have any ideas how we can construct a working rudder? The hull
actually overhangs the rudder by a few inches so there is room to go
through the hull above the rudder and attach it that way.

Hi Wilf & Caroline

if you look VERY carefully at the drawings you have of Waverley I'm sure
you'll see that there is a 'post' attached to the leading edge of the rudder
that disappears up into the hull. This will be in line with the hinges and
would have a bellcrank or similar device to actuate it via chains on the
fullsize.

Normal model practice is to attach a lever to this vertical post and couple
this to your rudder servo. If you do a trawl through some of the model shop
sites on the net you will find suppliers of all the hinges, rudder arms and
even complete rudder assemblies that you could want.
