Whats this, and will it work as a motor?

Everyone knows I'm new at this now and don't know the beam from the draught but I found these on a website and am wondering (because of their names) if they are replica steam engines of the engines used in some Australian steamers...tell  me if they are because if my other mototrs are faulty these could work for me!

Not having seen the engines in the australian steamers (except for the Emmylou) I couldn't say for certain but I'd guess they're not replicas, just named after those boats/towns. They look like they make up into something like stuart-turner engines, eg. the Echuca engine looks like the components for this - http://www.stuartmodels.com/inprod_det.cfm/section/casting/mod_id/39 - I'm sure they'd be good for running in a model but don't forget you need to prepare the parts first with a lathe and vertical mill plus you'll need a boiler to run the engine! If you have access to those things then, yes, it'd be good to make one but I'm sticking with electric power for now....

Thanks to you both for those links. I'll look at the Stuartone with a large amount of longing and drooling all over the place. Next up is a small Unimat lathe / milling machine I think!

This link is better, you can see all their engines - http://www.stuartmodels.com/inprod.cfm/section/casting/ - the 'Score' twin cylinder looks like it'd be good if it's reversible (I don't think the Victoria is as it looks like a 'Mill' engine) or the triple expansion would be great if it was a diagonal (or if you're building a non-paddler!)

Thanks for that, I just wasn't sure what they were and if they woul;d work for me, like I didn't know if they were static or working models, but I think I'll leave the Bryalah with her camera engines!
