Well went out after dinner and patched her up.

Super glued the piece in place some filler tomorrow. The inside will get some polyester resin and some 25mm glass tape as a precaution against further oooop's

I rather like the ivory colour.

Polyfiller mixed with a little ivory paint (tried to buy more at local supercheap auto store as I only have 1 airbrush bottle full left, but they no longer sell the smaller tins and no way I'm buying any more of the bigger tins that don't dry)

1" or 25mm glass fibre tape laid inside with polyester resin.

 :)Hello;

With balsa construction, breaks are common during movement.
Nice recovery and repair "concrete".
Happy end of the year

Not a happy chappy Set Josie up ready for final olive spraying last time I filled the airbrush bottle I obviously hadn't put the lid on properly when I vigorously shook it to mix ready said lid flew off & my black T Shirt and shorts my arms , legs and chest through said T shirt & singlet.

T shirt, singlet and shorts went straight in the workshop rubbish bin.

Said bottle ended up upright unter bench with 5ml of paint left nowhere near enough to finish the job.

The clean up of me the bench and storage containers under the bench used 200Ml of thinners a a draw full of rags and lots of colourful language I'll just blame it on the HOT weather.

Bought 2 spray cans of ivory on ebay cheaper than a small tin plus taxi to hardware store coming from Sydney should have them monday or tuesday. depending on how close they are in colour to that already sprayed may have to respray all the ivory a few days will tell.

The price of hard learned lessons  :) :)

T-shirt.

Shorts.

And all that's left of a once full bottle.

The only way forward is to laugh at ones mistakes and move on.

The base discs for the lower deck handrail stanchions will now be made on the lathe from 6mm/1/4" pre drilled 1mm then turned to 4mm dia then cut to 3mm thickness with a razor saw whilst still spinning leaving a little to be cut by hand  so they don't disappear into the shavings dust.

Can't win finally received the ivory spray paint a test shows a darker yellow than the previous ivory I airbrushed so I'll have to spray it all again not today currently 29.6c with a 20km wind across where I usually spray.

The 6mm dowel was put in chuck of lathe and using an extra long 1mm drill drilled the stanchion hole 50mm deep then turned it to 4 and a bit mm emery board took it to 4mm then moved it further out of the chuck to allow hand clearance from the chuck for the last bit, then with razor saw in right hand  and left hand steadying the dowell & ready to catch the parted itsy bitsy bit of dowell I proceeded to cut the 15 req'd.

Got the paint on yesterday the spray can Ivory is considerably more yellow than previous Ivory I airbrushed, checked on it today whilst surface dry it needs a few days to a week to harden.

On checking the rear deck level cabin walls I found some wrigley grey lines I've no idea why the grey primer rejects top coat paint in little lines.
Sprayed some ivory into a plastic cup and added talc to it and filled the imperfections.

I'm pleased with the upper decks paint.

as pic' shows I'm thinking on the wheel boxes build next.

The funnel and associated fittings are ready to install, the bow & stern mast ect, are done and treated with brass blackening and look good.

The windows all 50 of them are ready to install my wife gave me a craft punch 10mm sq I used to cut window panes from 150mm self adhesive mirror tiles, then cut them from black card and trimmed to the outer shape of the window frames pics tomorrow.
