Trimmed and pleased it fitted perfectly.
Started fitting the pre-made windows.
The six doors with mirror tile windows and door handles cut from 50mm pins with double sided tape fitted to back.
The larger Cargo and passenger doors fitted to forward wall.

Mid deck forward windows fitted. (note to self do all these fiddly bits before fitting the railings)
Got 3/4 of the mid deck rear done and what I thought was aligned well wasn't by a long shot more fun (not) removing the duds held not only with double sided tape but also super glue where they were on curves the mirror tile plastic was less inclined to bend and overcame the sticky backing. Equally hard to get things aligned well with double vision & with one eye shut. Gave up for the day.

All windows fitted some slightly crooked but the best my eyes and shaky hand can do.
Found I was still 2 doors short they're ready to install thursday as tomorrow we're off to the big smoke for 3 specialist appt's that'll take most of the day
First time in 24yrs they're all on same day.

Interesting tricks of light that makes Ivory yellow look pink.

Fitted the stanchions for the lower deck railings .9mm holes, .9mm brass rod and super glue also fitted final two doors yesterday.
also prepared the railings using some low voltage cable approx 600mm long, I stripped off the outer coating formed a loop at one end, bent a hook on a piece of bike spoke and fitted it to drill which Jo operated at slowest speed whilst I applied finger pressure as it turned to produce a quality cable in next pic.
Todays effort trim stanchions and start soldering the railings.

Masking needed prior to painting stanchions and rails thought of masking with a hole to fit around the stanchion diameter then slit so it'd slide in place paper tape was too flimsy so i retrieved the blue plastic tape from bin.
The blue in place over the stanchion bases bready for the paper mask tape to fill the gaps & cover the deck.
Gaps filled.
The brushable yellow proved to be too yellow after a few days drying I'll use some white spray enamel to lighten it.
Meanwhile I'll do some more on the upper superstructure.

Yesterday, It turned out I had some of the ivory yellow left so sprayed some into a small can and waited half an hour for some thinners to evaporate and brushed it over the darker yellow left it an hour and brushed a second coat looks good left it another hour and removed the masking bent the rails a bit removing the tape with tweezers they'll straighten up OK though.
Today, I drew up some forward deck gates as pic shows only got half of one gate internals cut when double vision put paid to safe shed time for today.
Looking good so far.

Got some more done on the paddle boxes from 5mm balsa cut 4 half circles for inside the box walls they'll give extra glue surface to glue the top to out side was easy after rough cutting I used the disc sander on the outer edge scratched my head on best way to do the inside then remembered the Dremel & router bits Damien Jr had given me which I'd previously made a mounting fixture that's held in a workmate foldable bench/vice.
I fitted a 10mm / 3/8th sanding drum which made short work of the inner curve.
I started to mount the front & rear walls then it hit me I hadn't yet finished the fronts so mounted a 3mm router bit in the dremel.
and easily routed to the lines. Once I've glued the half circles on on & are dry I'll carve/sand the inside edge to 45deg.

The gates have their last coat of paint,
Balsa 1/2 circles sanded to 45deg after glue dried.
you just have to laugh at yourself sometimes while putting fittings together to finish the upper superstructure spent 90 mins searching for A funnel fitting 20mm x 20mm x 3mm 90 deg bend eventually found it already attached to the funnel.
I'll glue the backs on monday too hot since 1-30 pm today and guests for lunch tomorrow.

Got the backs on after dinner last night and the curved outer curved skins on this morning after everything was set up for the guests.
Tried to pin them in place without success so went with rubber bands never ending supply from postal deliveries.
One pair of gates in place ready for a slight lift once epoxy is applied.

Guests a nephew & his new bride arrived at 3-30pm for lunch and left around 5-30, I skipped the evening meal, helped Jo clean up the dishes and escaped to the shed to trim the wheel boxes only to discover super glue doesn't bond balsa to marine ply very well after scraping it off I reglued it with 5 min epoxy.
Some filler in the pin holes tomorrow then a coat of polyester resin to the insides of the boxes.

Paddle boxes look great sitting in place on superstructure, although not quite in their correct positions.
The polyester resin applied to the insides cured and a coat of dope was applied to the outsides had dinner and went out and sanded it ready for primer tomorrow with a top of 20c or 68f it'll be ideal.

Excellent work there Damien, Josie Olsen is coming along very nicely. I like the way you tackle the awkward jobs particularly the hand rails. Well done

Thanks Robert, all was going well until I sprayed the olive enamel over the grey primer filler over the paddle boxes it obviously reacts with enamel but is OK with acrylic paint I left them to dry and installed the rigging lines on the mast on top of the aft top deck fitting.
Then installed the Funnel.
