Not sure Thomas it depends a lot on my health frequent medical visits chew into my shed time. Hopefully before the new year.

Grrrrrrrr 24 hours after airbrushing the superstructure is dry but the hull bottom is still really tacky whilst spraying it it seemed a tad thick I assume it went on thicker than the ivory superstructure both colours were new tins of enamel.

48hrs and still as tacky as yesterday I removed all the masking, out with the thinners and rags and took it back to primer left it an hour and took to it with 400 W&D paper dry when done a tack rag removed the dust and re primed her.

32c tomorrow I'll mix another batch of paint a lot thinner this time and see what happens.

Maybe a good idea to test it on a piece of scrap before applying to the boat??

She's certainly looking good so well done!

Thanks I've done a test piece with the original mix of red-dark brown they were new tins bought for the job I also did one with
A dark buckboard brown of a different brand if that dries quickly I'll just use it instead and throw away the dud tins.

19hrs and the red is tacky and the brown is almost dry just slightly tacky you'd think 32c temp would help it dry.

Ooops found this crack where the upper cabin has separated from the deck this will be tricky getting filler into it I just knew they'd be needed when I bought the long cotton buds.

Maybe the air humidity is having an effect?

Humidity has been around 40% for the last few days.
I did a test piece with the original mix of red-dark brown they were new tins bought for the job I also did one with
A dark buckboard brown of a different brand if that dries quickly I'll just use it instead and throw away the dud tins.

After 24hrs the dark brown was almost dry whereas the red-dark brown was really tacky,
only thing I can think of is perhaps these tins are a different composition and don't like general purpose thinners, I'll get some turps tomorrow and give it another try but expect it to take longer to dry as in this weather the GP thinners would evaporate from the paint in minutes.

Another day goes by the red/black test piece is still very tacky where as the brown is dry a trip to garbage land fill for the 2 dud tins.
Nothing else happening here 32c feels like 39c in the little tin shed back inside. Weather mob predicts a week of low 20c's with up to 300mm of rain will be stuck inside if we don't float away.

Most of the rain avoided us as did the heat just enough rain for high humidity, so set to work changing the shed around so I can fit Volcanos hull on the bench.

No pic's at pres it's a pig stye.

The red/black paint mix is still tacky.

Sprayed the mission brown on hull bottom very warm day not long until sun reaches model head inside for dinner afterwards discover wind had sprung up and deposited rubbish from neighbours trees all over it Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Have sanded it with 1200 wet & dry and started masking it again.

The talc in the ivory paint worked well as a filler then found a problem reaching the filler to sand it smooth coffee stirrers some PVA glue and some 120 grit powder did the job.

Resanded the bottom with 2000 wet & dry wet resprayed when dry I'm happy with it now left it a few days and masked the bottom ready for above waterline paint.

The pop stick sanders were a flop wouldn't fit between the hand railings so shaved down some 1/4sq and put the grit on it next day it worked well. also fitted a dowel pin in the base of the funnel and marked and drilled it's position on the roof along with the other fittings shown on plan.

Today I started cutting out the wheel covers.

Also finished sanding the upper superstructure ready for paint tomorrow as it'll be a nice warm day.

The ivory paint went on ok until I was almost ready to turn her over to spray the lower deck cabin wall then CRAAAAACK and a piece of said wall fell on floor.

Really regretting using balsa for this and of course holding weight of hull in one hand at the stern Grrrrrr should have learned when it happened spraying the primer.
Lovely frame of mind it's left me in for the festive season.
