Right, at last my Christmas present to myself has arrived, the plan and styrene hull for the Director class naval paddle tug HMS Forceful (Model Boat ref. MM1292). As I have never built a styrene hulled model before can someone advise me what thickness of styrene sheet I should use for the superstructure. I intend making an internal skeleton using the frame drawings cut from 1/8" marine ply to give me some rigidity to the hull and somewhere to hang the paddles etc. Deck will probably be 1/16" ply with overlaid planking. I will be using a surplus set of Graupner Glasgow paddlewheels that I got from a friend, they are approx. 1/2" larger in diameter and I intend to make them fit by fitting them lower in the hull to enable fitting in the paddle boxes.
Any info on suggested construction and adhesives to use would be most welcome, as would any suggestions as to how I can mix the paddles to give extra steering maneuverability at the transmitter end (Spektrum DX6)or indeed anything else would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Norrie
