Watch out with that 1/32 balsa...its a real pig for splits, warps and problems...if my experience is anything to go by!!
I used 6mm obeche for the keel as I had a stock of it from old projects.

Yes i've had trouble splitting in the past I'll replace the Exacto blade in my splitter with a #10 scalpel blade for the 1/16 & 1/32
I've ordered 1/4 ply And will use some of it for the keel.

Are you going to use the jig suggested in the plan for making the paddle wheels? As it wasmy first paddler project I slavishly copied it and it worked for me but next time I would use ply or obeche for the base and probably hardwood strips for the 'pillars'.

Have you considered using Eze Kote instead of poly resin? Looks to be a lot simpler.

Barry at 8 times the price of poly resin it'd need to apply it'self and I have 4 Lt of poly on hand i'm quite proficient in use of polyester resin.
Thanks for the tip i'd never heard of it before I may try it in the future.
