Hello from Southern California
« on: October 02, 2014, 12:25:43 AM »
Hello All.
My name is Bill and found this site through the web when looking at the Bogs Standard Paddleducks steam Engine.  I'm a 55 year old Electronics engineer.  My hobbies are woodworking, and recently (4 Years now) I have been dibbling in Metal Machining.  The only training I have in this is from reading articles from the internet, a few only (1910) hand books, and what I can find on the internet.  My work shop is from a small 14 X 18 Tin Shed and I enjoy working out there, whether I get any thing done or not, it all is a new learning experience.  I recently started building the Bogs Standard Engine from scraps,  I have carved the Engine Block from an old automobile Crank shaft, with the caps and glands are being carved out of some old plumbing fixtures.  Being from the US, my challenge is to build this to metric standards, with SAE tools ::) only because I can.

Welcome to the club, Bill.

If you have any pictures of your project, then we'd love to see them.  Always been interested in scratch building as love to see how others do it.   8)

Cheers

Ken

Despite the high cost of living,
                    it still remains popular.

The engine build has been moved to the Live Steam section of Other Marine Models.
