US civil war blockade runner
« on: August 27, 2014, 05:25:26 AM »
Hello to all, I have just  bought some plans for the blockade runner Phamtom. I already know that she was not a paddle but a screw powered ship. And that some where build on merseyside for the confederate navy So I was wondering if someone could recommend any books or websites were I could get more information.
So thanks for looking yours terry smith.

To Greateastern
Thanks for all that. I have already had a look see and it is more then helpful
I picked up a book at the library today called Cruisers. Cotton and Confederates by John Hussey
The book covers the time of the civil war in which Liverpool and merseyside played important part.
Merseyside yards built many blockade runners and at lest two Commerce Raiders The Florida and The Alabama, sadly
these two where screw powered thanks again terry.
