How to power twin paddle wheels
« on: February 22, 2014, 04:48:35 AM »
Hi

First time building a scratch built paddle steamer. Can i get an idea of how to power boats paddles? i was thinking of using 2x motors and a standard shaft/coupling for each one but can i use 2 motors on one ESC? I looked at possibly fitting an '0' gauge train motor to use with double shafts is this a possibility? Apologies for the clue less questions..... all help appreciated!  ;D

Hi Mark, here's links to my 2 builds one uses 2 stern wheels driven independently for tank style steering, the other is a side wheeler with a rudder.
Have a look if you want.
