Hi from Brian Bates
My home address is in Pembroke.
At the age of 69 I decided to have another go at making a model tug and as it was 40 years ago since I built my first boat, I seemed to go to model aircraft after that for many years, at long last I decided that maybe it was time to stop watching them fall out of the sky it was time for a change.
I bought a fibre glass hull and Im 3/4 into building The Applegarth steam tug,  Im happy with the build  and for my next project have decided to go one step up and build a paddle tug in about 1.36 aprox scale about 3to 3.6" long I will need a hull if possible and plans so I can look up its history, something like Navy, as I served my time as an engine and ship fitter in Chatham Dockyard I the 1960s.

Hi Brian

Have you considered the Dromedary class?  There is a hull available in 1/48 scale which looks attractive - if I ever finish my current projects I would like to build one.  British Steam Tugs by P N Thomas contains a plan of the vessel and there are a lot of photos on the web.  Alternately you might remember the RMAS Director class, Model Boats published a plan and I am pretty sure a hull is available.

The Director plan is in the download section of this site.  I've got 2 Dromedary hulls and they are superb. It's available from Mark's Model Bits and at a very reasonable price.
