Hello from San Diego
« on: May 29, 2013, 04:22:06 AM »
Good Day!  I am from San Diego, California.  New to paddle steamers, but somewhat experienced in modelling.

I have just obtained a very nice Unimat, and am interested in starting the construction of a steam engine.  A steam powered paddle engine would be interesting to me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't help with a single modelling tip, but I can say how pleased I was with 1.5 days in San Diego in 2012: I felt at home, and it was go go go covering trams, the aircraft carrier and the maritime museum; I got some views of the airport, and did two harbour ferry cruises.
There are some things which I didn't do; I'll be back.

Inside the huge former car ferry at the museum, I caught a glimpse of a tv and thought 'that's the Murray'.  It was a dramatic few minutes from the series 'All the rivers run'.

I have lived here all my life.  I have seen the good, the bad, and the recent renovations of the downtown.
Glad to hear that you had a good time.
