A Re-Introduction Of Sorts
« on: January 23, 2013, 10:54:08 PM »
Hello,

My name is Sean Bryan, that name may ring a bell. I used to post a lot about Australian paddle steamers, because I used to live just south of Melbourne, Australia.

Following those posts things got a little quiet on my front as I moved to the US to work in theatre. (Not that the paddler spotting stopped, a weekend in San Francisco proved quite successful.)

The re-introduction is necessary though because I am no longer in Australia.

At the end of last year I was offered a job on a West End musical, so in under a month I rushed through paper work and got hold of a 5 year ancestry visa (half my family are Scottish, but no it's not convict ancestry. They sailed to Australia in the 60s.)

Last week I moved to London to begin what could possibly be a very new life. At the end of five years I can apply for permanent residency. Unfortunately the West End musical I got the job on folded before it had a chance to open, so now I'm job searching.

But I'm also paddler searching, and it didn't take me long! (Photo provided)

So I guess what I'm saying is, the next paddler modelling day better prepare itself for some sarcastic Aussie humour, because I'm here!

Currently I'm based in Bexleyheath Kent, but only for a little longer, I'll probably be moving closer into London. I don't know where everyone else is here, but if anyone is interested in talking paddle steamers over tea some time, let me know!

The saddest part is Grebe was well on it's way to being finished again! Now she'll have to wait a bit longer.

you'd certainly be made to feel very welcome if you manage to get along to Paddler Day in September Sean. Technically youd be our furthest travelled member! Previously we've had visitors from Germany, Switzerland, and Greece, but no-one from Australia - Yet! ;)

Hope you can make it, and look forward to meeting you at long last!

Regards
Eddy

Hi Sean
I echo Eddy's welcome to paddleducks and to paddler day.  If you can make it I can provide a spare paddler for you to sail  :)  but let me know if you want it as others may also be short of a model  ;)
Cheers from Bob Golder
