Hey guys: I pretty much finished the King of the Mississippi. I need
to do just a bit of spruceing up but she's mostly done. Take a look at
her and let me have your critique.I'll also put up some pics in the
gallery.

TONY..WOW!!!!!!! What a gorgeous model...I think people should
realise FIRST that the overall length of this model is barely 27" and
yet the work is incredibly crisp and well detailed. Look at the
beautiful deckwork if you don't mind....PERFECT! This is a model to
be VERY PROUD OF!!!!
I would also like to thank you, Tony, for having done such a good
job updating us on your progress and for providing such good photos
of your work.
I AM GOING TO INVITE ALL YOU PADDLEDUCKS WHO ARE BUSY BUILDING
BEAUTIFUL PADDLERS TO DO THE SAME.. How about at the beginning of
each month just giving us a "heads up" on your progress. THIS is one
aspect of the forum that gives me the greatest pleasure...HEARING
about your models and following your progress as you research, plan,
build and eventually complete them.
Again TONY, a wonderful result and tribute to your hours of patience
and care and a ship that I look forward to featuring prominently on
the Paddlducks Website as an inspiration for others who follow. I'm
also going to link it to the Artesania Latina kit folder in the
Bosun's locker under sternwheel kits!

PJ: Thank you very much for your kind words. When you spend unknown
numbers of hours on something to produce your best effort it's nice to
get some praise. I wish more guys would put up there pictures. I
promised you a picture of the modeler as well it will be put with my
pictures on the file.

Good Morning,Tony,
EGADS! You have done a beautiful job on it!!! The railings are outstanding, and it is hard to put one part ahead of the other, it is all so good! Your photography on the presentation is great too. Thanks so much for sharing. Never mind the repitition in sending it, it is worth looking at over and over.

Pretty impressive work Tony - detail on smoke stacks (are they castings on
top?) and supporting wiring is amazing
Whilst I'm not into stern wheelers, I for one and am sure other paddleducks
would like to read as much as you would like to print on construction
detail, size, scale, draught, is she R/C or static and even construction
methods etc - we can all learn
On question, the spoked gypsy at the bow - how does that work?
I am about eight months away (completion of Decoy) but seeing snaps like
yours prompt me to spend more hours at it
regards Derek

Derek: Thanks for the comments. Yes they are casting of britania that
I painted. The model is a static kit from Latina. I made several
changes however. It took me exactly 5 months to the day. That might
have been slightly contrived but not really.Just kinda worked out that
way. I thought that was interesting. This is only my second model and
my first riverboat. I didn't realize how much wood work went into one
of these things. Every cabin house,or stateroom as they are called in
the plans,is planked. And the heriringbone deck on the two middecks
took a while. You mentioned the wireing on the stacks, I was trying to
similate cables, so I painted some heavy rigging line black. Would
love to have some small turn-buckles but used wrapping that is really
not visable except pretty close up. You asked about a spoked gypsy at
the bow, that is a capstan and I would assume the spokes were for foot
hold. Like I said this is my second model. I pretty familiar with
modern yachting since I was an ocean racer in my youth, but just
learning about historic shipping.
