Hello

I signed in a year ago but now have actually started my second (Billings Helen was the first ) paddle boat.
I prefer to build rather than sail and so far have made a few kits, and a couple of Fleetscale boats - Missouri & Bismarck,
A Dave Metcalf Bulldog, Billings Slo-mo-shun, an Hdml and so on.

I have a local auction house that has four model sales a year, mainly trains but every now and then boats. I buy, refurbish and
re- sell, sometimes even at a profit. A couple of months I did buy ago a pair of self feathering paddle wheels (alloy) powered by
(and now you have to forgive my ignorance) two cylinders that 'rock' I have it as a display piece, I think that I paid about £80.00 for it.

The model that I have now started on is the Dave Metcalf FORCEFUL, building a ply internal structure but using the Model boats
styrene hull - lots of problems already, but I am getting there. I have the plans and the two MBs mags. I think that I am at the stage where I need to start thinking about propulsion, and here I have not a clue - and I hope this is where you can help stop me making
expensive time wasting blunders.

I would like to post my problems/query's as they pop up, and any advice you feel may help will be gratefully received.

Welcome to Paddleducks Colin....

The Forceful was the first paddler I ever built, though I have to say it turned out to be a total disaster! The reason for that was entirely my fault as I made the superstructure far too heavy, so it was unstable on the water. That wasn't a good experience..... But thankfully I learnt a lot from those mistakes, and all subsequent paddlers have worked well

If you take a look in the Paddlewheels/Drive Systems area you will find a lot of information - If you have any questions after reading that area, please feel free to post any specific questions and we'll do our best to answer them.... We don't bite, honest!
