Can anyone identify this brute?

I was recently fortunate to have the chance to buy the boiler below and a few other treasures from a local chap who doesn't now have time for this aspect of the model boating hobby.

To say the least I jumped at the oppurtunity - full steam ahead and damn the torpedoes! (regardless of cost).

The boiler is about 7 1/2" long and has cross tubes in the centre flue.  There's a Stuart Turner air about it, but an on-line search has found precisely - nothing. Who better to ask that the knowledgable members of the steam hobby forums?

I'll post photos of the rest of the "haul" if there's interest...wait till you see what's on the end of the steam lines..

Hi PD's....& welcome Charles  ...mmmmmmmmmmm the boiler if manufactured by a ...shall we say registered boiler building company or even a compentent owner boiler builder,  must have a unique serial number which is actually stamped into the boiler casing and is not removable & not covered...I suspect the manufacturers name may also be required to displayed

This number is then recorded on the boiler test certificate which is required by Law [or the governing body of model boating clubs] for insurance purposes...... if the boiler is to be pressurised in a public area etc

We have a number of articles in our PD WEB pages on the rules & regs of model boiler certification kindly supplied by an experienced boiler building company principal

It is a lengthy topic & I will not attempt to qualify the detail here....

The attachment below is an example where the manufacturer, location of manufacture and the unique serial number is displayed .......

If you are considering using the boiler & engine......a good starting place would be your local model boating club........99% of members will only be too happy to assist you down the path of understanding your boiler & steam pressure certification requirements ....................Derek

I have every intention of testing the boiler, and will check the files to see the process. to the best of my knowledge there is only one "steamer" in our club - and his unit is a "MidWest" kit. I think this toy is old enough  to preceed any serial number regulations. regulations.

Previous owner said it was ST and the fittings sem to support this. Maybe some of the members with older catalogues can find a ref. (I'm surprised that there's not an on-line photo collection - the product line is legendary.

Boiler dia is 4 1/2" under the lagging, length 7 1/2.....any other ideas?
