HMS WARRIOR - photos
« on: December 01, 2011, 06:48:23 AM »
Here are some photo's of my model of HMS Warrior.
It is scratch built, the hull constructed from wooden formers covered with marine ply and coated with glass fibre.
Power is by a Marcher twin cylinder steam engine and a gas fired boiler.
Control is by six channel radio control.
The model is of 1/72 scale giving an overall length of 6 feet.

A few more photos during construction plus one of the Marcher steam engine. The cross sectional plan is one I found in a book detailing the restoration of the real boat, now moored at Portsmouth. The plan was about 1 1/2 inches square and was enlarged on the works photocopier.
I can't say how many hours it took me to build as I did it between other projects and interests over a period of many years. The most time consuming task however was the rigging all of which is hand sown and knotted.

Wow, the ship looks great on the water. Please post more detail pictures, also with the whole steam plant and set up. And a video if available  :)
