Introduction
« on: November 18, 2011, 02:06:50 PM »
Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Shawn and I'm rather new to machining but loving every minute of it.  I started out with Sherline machines but quickly realized their limitations so I recently got a Lathemaster 9x30 lathe.  Still looking for a bigger mill.  Anyway, I saw a thread on  ET Westbury's side paddle engine and man is that a cool engine!  I found a link to this site and find these paddle engines extremely interesting.  I have built a Humbug engine from plans in Model Engine Builder magazine (I'm still amazed it ran!) and a rocking engine.  Being rather new to machining, I'm building skills at this point but hope to try to build a paddle engine soon.

Thanks

Shawn

Thanks Derek.

These boats and engines have a timeless beauty about them.  I'm looking forward to learning more about them!
