Hi Larry,

She was running on Como Drill 919D motors with a 50:1 reduction and from them a 2:1 chain drive using Meccano sprockets and chain, and running on 12 Volts the paddle rotation was about 100rpm but the weight of two motors (she steered with independent motor control) no rudder, and will turn in her own length, which is a spectacle. I have fitted 2 Como drill 280's which do not have the same power but seem OK I will know more when she sails after refit.

Mine is built on an injection moulded hull and in some ways that is better as long as you make very good seal between it and the deck.

          worked on deck house and deck planking using Ikea blind slats.     
     a   Favorite build material of mine  note sheet planking pieces butted and glued together and sanded .  .......LARRY...

I'm with you on the Telly front!

Please don't take lack of reply as a sign of lack of interest ... Personally i'm amazed at the speed your going. I'm sure if there were better ways or you were going the wrong way about things you might have heard.

Hi Larry,

Have notification of your posts sent to my email, so am watching with interest. At the moment am building up a kit that I have had for nearly five years and work on when I feel in the mood, its a billing Banckert, not a paddler, at the moment build the superstructure on trying to ballest it in the bath, with lead shot.

You are progressing well with your build keep going, and perhaps I will get restared on my rebuild, the last thing I did was to replace the railings all round the decks, very time consuming.

Hi Larry,

Had a thought last night, while setting up my Banckert, most of the ballast you will need in the Lulonga will be made up by your battery, motors and radio gear, at least it is in mine, but be careful not to float her too near to the lower loading deck as water can very easily run over it when other boats are passing, that was my problem. Under the lower side decks I have filled the cavity with Polyurethane but you could use polystyrene blocks as a safety feature. As I said earlier I steer with in-dependant motors and no rudder, worth working on while you are building.

I'm following this build too (as I do all of them)  seems to be coming along well, it'l be interesting to see how the finished boat sails  ;D

        more done on deck houses ,  GRAHAM ,   will be going paddle steering so will be seeking help,
 also motor drive , paddle wheelers are a black art to me ,  :c002 thank you.
