Earl of Erne
« on: September 13, 2011, 04:14:16 AM »
I am looking for some information on the last years of the paddler EARL OF ERNE.
She was built in 1855 by Robert Napier, Govan for the Dundalk Steam Packet Co.

According to the book "Clyde and other steamers" she was sold in 1919 to Greek owners and wrecked in 1926.
Does anyone know the name(s) she took in 1919-26?

Any photos would also be most welcomed!
Thank you in advance

I can only find one photo of the Earl of Erne, hopefully it's the ship your researching?

It could be her, the dimensions seem to fit. Thank you  :)

For anyone interested, I found out that EARL OF ERNE was renamed SOPHIA INGLESSI in 1921 and sailed regularly from Piraeus to Marseilles and to Constantinople - Varna - Galatz.
