Yes, I have lived in Oshkosh for the last 7 years. I spent the
previous 29 years in and around Eau Claire where I was born.
I subscribed to this group and others primarily to learn how to build
boats of many kinds from wood. Paddleboats are one of my interests.
I have always thought that type of riverboat to be one of the most
unique types of vessels ever to make waves.
I saw the Mississippi Queen going through the lock at Alma Wisconsin
as I stood on the observation platform watching her slowly rise up in
the lock so she could continue upriver.
We also have a smaller vessel named the Pioneer Princess that sails
Lake Winnebago and some of the connecting waters to the west. She is
of a more modern design. I hope to take a ride on her this summer.
I hope to learn everything I need to know from this group and I
apoligize in advance for the stupid questions I will sure to ask.
Thanks,
John Bates
