Hello to all.
Randy was asking about sandwich construction. I put in two pictures of the
Nasookin hull. I find this a very simple way of forming a hull for static
models. Each layer is cut to the lines from the hull configuration plan. In
my case I'm working in 1/4 in. or 1: 48 the first level is 1/4 in. or 1ft.
level and then 1/2 in. or 2 ft. levels. After gluing together comes the job
of carving to get a molded hull. If any one wants more specific details
about it let me know. I hope to put another hull together soon and will take
pictures of the steps.
I am very fortunate to have the only fully intact sternwheeler in the
country, the S.S. MOYIE which has been refurbished to her original splendor.
It is only 40 miles up Kootenay Lake from me, at Kaslo. The cover picture on
Modeltec magazine is of that ship. Several of my models are on display
onboard the ship for the summer a very fitting place.
Best regards Bert Learmonth.
