Very new to paddlers being more into aeromodeling but keen to build a model of the Lincoln Castle having been on her many times on trips to Hull from New Holland with my parents and their Morris 8 and in later years Ford Perfect 100E. have searched internet and not found plans. Have used this forum and looked at past messages but not alot is evident. Have been in contact with the Mitchell Library in Glasgow who hold the folwing drawing:-
1. General arrangement and profile, showing steam heating plan
2. As 1, showing ventilator plan
3. Main engines, two 4J6 and Il2 auxilary engines, installation drawing from Messrs Gardner & Sons Ltd
4. Exhaust silencers
5. Oil traps
6. Sterngear
7. Paddle boxes and belting. Stamped London and North Eastern Railway, Grimsby Docks
8. Saloon windows
Before I order copies which may not be relevant if any one has better information would be very appreciative.

What you need really depends on how used to working with drawings you are - The Mitchell Library is a great resource, but what your getting are copies of the original shipyard drawings, not modelling plans. If your happy with sorting out your own methods of construction they are ideal, but if you need a bit more help then you really need some model plans.
Assuming the shipyard drawings are okay for you, all you really require are the
General Arrangement
and a set of
Hull Lines
.

Should not have problem working with the shipyard drawings. Will order copy of the general arrangement drawings and see what they are like. Hopefully they will have hull lines on them. Thanks for response.

If it helps i have recently been looking at plans at the Mitchel and all the plans i have looked at the most useful have been -
General arrangement
Hull lines & Profile
Rigging Plan
Often there are duplicates of the same drawing but at different scale or for different purposes - great if you need fine detail but can soon rack up the cost if you select the wrong drawings ......... Don't ask me how i know that .... Fortunately the Library is reasonably close to me so i now go research prior to ordering.

Should maybe have said that the paddle box and belting drawings dont allways show the detail that we require.
They tend to just be a slice through the sponson showing only the outline of the sponson and belting attached.
(i'm sure there is a proper technical name for this type of view, but i dont know it)

If your in no rush for the drawings i might be able to get to the Library early next month (April) and report back on the drawings available.

Thanks Kim for most generous offer. I have asked for estimate for the two general arrangement drawings. If the cost is not too much will order them. Should the cost be high or does not contain the right information will get back to you. Again thanks for offer.

Don't Waverley Models make a hull - or am I getting confused with Wingfield Castle....

I think Waverley models does PLANS for Lincoln castle - or has plans to make a hull - it's difficult to tell from his site!

I believe the A & J Inglis plans were rescued from the shipyard building just before it was demolished by the late Graham E Langmuir and donated to Glasgow City Archives, which are now in the Mitchell Library building

My first post details what drawing are in the Mitchell. I have ordered the two general arrangement drawings. Emailed Waverley models who appear to have plans which are mentioned in their website. I await their response.

Spoken to Mike at Waverley Models he does not hold the plans or drawings for the Lincoln Castle. He has the drawings for the Wingfield Castle. Have not received drawings from the Mitchell Library yet hope they will be sufficient.

Just to add a few facts to some of the speculation I have read on here; Lincoln Castle is now laying on a drying berth in Alexander dock, Grimsby. She cannot exit this dock without reduction in beam and height as was done when she went in. The Town Bridge has new opening mechanism and presents no height problem but width is. The A180 road bridge is both too low and narrowed by timber fendering. The continual lifting and settling on her current berth has caused some pin holes which are sealed with concrete boxes, they continue to be an issue. Internally she is in reasonable condition but how to repair the hull without proper access continues to be a problem.
She is very much for sale to a good home.
