EPOXY GLUE

SHOCKED!

Went into my model shop to buy 5 minute epoxy and what I used to buy was two part 4oz bottles at £8, I now find I can only get two part 2oz bottles at £10.

Does anyone know of cheaper suppliers?

mmmmm PD's......ten UK pounds for two part 2oz bottles does sound expensive ....could be the merchant & not the manufacturer......

In OZ we have the range manufactured by 'Selleys'.......and also a few product manufactured in China....which are very 'general' or 'generic' in their application as marketed ....'5 minute epoxy resin'

A 5 minute exothermic reaction has the potential to warp or move the alignment of the components being bound structurally..........

I have used structural adhesives for model ship building by American manufacturers [3M] ......

I understand that there may be a million differing applications for epoxy resin in model building  ....however would prefer to 'stitch weld' with super glue...& then bed the component in with slow cure epoxy...........Derek

Yes, the price has rocketed especially on the Devcon stuff. It's now around the £15 mark.

My wife found some tubes of a different make in the local pound shop and it proved to absolutely useless. I guess you get what you pay for.

I use your method, Derek, as I have the commercial stuff which takes 24 hours. You have to add filler powder as it's quite runny.
