Hi all - new member from New Zealand

Since retiring I have become involved in model boats. I have built three yachts, a hydrafoil, a patrol boat that squirts water at kids on the shore, a rowing boat and a fast airboat.  I have nearly completed a small sidewheeler. I am now well underway with a Wilton Castle. I also build RC planes. 'Boats accumulate - planes don't'

Hello there Bernie, I love the quote above! Another disenfranchised aero-modeller, welcome to the fold you'll find there are a few in this forum / community. A nice range of models that you've collected so far and are undertaking to build. Have fun and join the fraternity here with any of your questions, opinions and deliberations.

cheers

Jim

Hi Bernie & welcome aboard. What part of N Z? There are a few Kiwis involved on the forum with both paddlers and other types of boats. I am sure you will find that the group will make you welcome and should be able to come up with answers to any questions you might have. Even the Aussies in the group are reasonably under control. Cheers, Ian.

Hi Kiwimodeller- I'm some distance from you - Wellington area and a member of the Greater Wellington Marine Model Club. An imposing title. The main thrust of the club is scale, but i'm a bit too impatient (and too old) to embark on complex models. Hence the Wilton Castle. I will post a picture or two later

Got fairly close to you at Labour Weekend when we and several of the Scale marine Modellers from Auckland went to Hawera. Met several Wellington people there too. Next year when we go it is hoped that we might be able to have a few competitions. Originally the pond there was built for Straight Runners and Pond Yachts so it would be nice to be able to re -enact some of this sort of thing. My particular interest is steam and I have an 80" long model of the Waimarie paddler and a few other steam boats plus a couple of vintage electrics. I am also working on a J class yacht and have just bought my first 2.4G radio to go in that. Look forward to catching up at some time. Cheers, Ian.

Hi Bernie - I'm a new comer to paddle boat building  as you have probably read on the introduction forum. I live in the Hutt valley and  currently  I am building the paddle tug Chieftain. Progress is slow as I am now working on the brass paddle wheels ( These are a project on their own !!!) maybe we can get in touch sometime and share  a few ideas and information on the subject.  Cheers Alan
