My JUPITER uses two bomb sight computer motors to propel her, but both drive the one thro' paddle shaft using micro switches.
Two motors together full ahead or astern; and either one motor for half speed; BUT be careful that one ahead and one motor going astern does not happen!
These motors are rated at 27 volts, shunt wound, cost me 15 shillings (75pence) new as government surplus. They came in their original sealed boxes dated 1944 and I believe they were off a Wellington bomber. Made in USA by AC DELCO.

So they are sight not site motors- i allways wondered about that.

Mine are marked

Type - b12
24v dc
3500rpm @ 24v
HP 1/60
made by R. B. Pullin & Co Ltd.


The motor is run on 12v & connected to the shaft by reduction gearing fabricated from meccano, it makes a great noise. I like it so much i went through a phase of buying up a stock of chain on eBay. Not cheap but recon i have a lifetimes supply gathering dust in a drawer :)

A good day today, cold but water like glass. Electrics just need wires trimmed to be a little neater, smoke and lights sorted just need to make a switch unit for them.
Had her out for a brief sail and she did well..

Now if It would just warm up a bit i could give a little bit of my time to a shelved project....

Nice to see Jupiter afloat, Kim, she looks great. I really like the 1937 twins.....really sturdy looking paddlers   8)
