Hello. from the English Lakes.
« on: August 09, 2009, 03:25:43 AM »
Hi from the beautiful lake district.
I am quite new to boat modeling but have made a few steam engines. two of which are marine versions,
So it is now time to bite the bullet and branch out or should i say sail.
Now paddle boats you don't see many models of those do you . that's it i will have a go. i have a friend who is a boatbuilder so hopefully some advice will be forthcoming. just have to find a suitable subject, any ideas,
Russ.

Welcome to Paddleducks Russ,

Ideas on which boat to model really comes down to which type of vessel you prefer, from Ocean going paddlers, tugs, ferries, sternwheel and sidewheel river boats, steam launches etc etc... The list is almost endless!

Have a good look around the website and see if anythig takes your fancy - There are numerous photos in the forum, and lots more in the photo gallery. Probably enough to keep you going for a week or so! :hehe

Regards
Eddy

Hey thanks for te invite Hans.
BUT my other half and i are away to china for three weeks then.
if, and i hope we do see some interesting boats i will upload "with eddys pemission to this site", funny thing thou'gh we were ain Prague last month and saw Paddlers there with three rudders . is this a central european thing or what. i can see the principle of using the two outers as a brake. interesting.
Russ.

Hi and welcome!

Re. the 3 rudders, this is for increased manouverability. You see it a lot on larger river ships, for example Goethe (now sadly MPV) has 3, also the Viking Cruises ships have them. The two outers aren't a brake.
