PS Waverley - the 1899 one....
« on: July 18, 2009, 06:47:44 AM »
Hi Everyone,

Anyone know if ship builders drawings of the sponsons/paddleboxes of the 1899 Waverley exist anywhere?

Long story as to why just the sponsons is needed....

Any leads appreciated, Cheers :-)

The Mitchell Library in Glasgow hold the archives for A & J Inglis (Waverley's builder)

http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/Library_Services/The_Mitchell/Archives/shipbuilding.htm

Hope this helps

Brilliant, many thanks!

I have had other ships plans off them yrs ago, but my memory told me they didnt hold that Inglis, but happily you've proved my memory wrong :)

Cheers, Andy

Hi,
Did you manage to get plans?
She will be a fabulous model.
As a kid i remember getting to sail a very nice model of the Waverley 1 which i believe is still sailing to this day. Perhaps one of the Model Steamer Club guys could help with some pics of the model.
I have attached a pic of the real thing just for info for those that maybe haven't seen a pic of her.
Would love to hear how you got on .
Regards
Kim

Attached a pic of Waverley.
Just been trawling eBay as there is a seller on there that often lists a pic of Waverley 1's paddle box in sure.
Will keep my eyes open

Hi Guys, sorry Kim only just seen the updates to this thread, since starting temporary 9-5 a month ago time has becoem very tight fora few weeks.

Yes the Mitchel library has plans, I havn't ordered yet, havn't had time to sort though what I need, but I will be doing so not only for that ship, but more for Jeanie Deans I have discovered they have which they didnt tell me about before, so I shall be enhancing my plans for that too at some point, and most excitingly of all, they have more for my beloved Cardiff Queen than they told me about and sent me before too, that online acrchve site is genius!

Just cant wait for a suitable gap in other commitments to get building!

Oh, and I agree with you all, Waverley looks a lot nicer with teh front end plated up :D
