newbie from new zealand

Hello, pders,I've been lurking for quite a while, soaking up the friendly atmosphere.
I'm over 40 and under 60,living in new zealand for the past 39 years.Born in the hague, holland.
Always been into models of one sort or another. My father built a number of boats over the years, but never really caught my attention.I was more into cars at the time(1960's-70's)
Have been flying rc planes for 20 years or so.Built a simple flat-bottom pleasure cruiser(Moonraker?) out of 1/2"ply and laminated cardboard, sealed with housepaint!Joined local engineering society, which has a boat section.Bought a yacht on local auction site. Now building enlarged "Rose"steam launch, from MBmag plan.
Have tried to build bogstandard's" twin from scrap",as found on HMEM,but I guess I should have started with something simpler.hence,I'm currently building Peter Arnott's V-twin oscillator,as described in the "starting with steam"series in model boats mag of the late 80's.
Also have a 5" gauge loco in build, but that's another story.
gathering bits to start the boiler soon.
Regards.Hans.

Welcome Hans

now if you're building a nice steam plant - you really ought to put it in a paddle steamer!  ;D
