Formula 1 will have a new points system for the 2010 after an agreement between the governing body (FIA) and the teams.

The new system will see places rewarded in a 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 sequence.

F1 bosses believe a seven-point gap between first and second place, rather than the current two-point separation, will promote a 'race-to-win' attitude.

New tyre rules mean drivers must start races on the same tyres they set their grid time in, while 'double diffusers' will be banned from 2011.

The Formula 1 Commission, a decision-making forum for the teams and major stakeholders, agreed the amendments to the sporting and technical regulations at a meeting on Monday.

They were 3rd fatsest at the first test too, but I didn't want to mention it as they did well in pre-season testing last year and then got nowhere! :(

Lets wait until the first race, and then see how things go, hopefully last year was just a little "dip" in forum?

The BMW Saubers didn't do too well :( Why is it still called BMW Sauber, when BMW pulled out and sold the team to Peter Sauber, and the car is powered by a Ferrari engine?

Anyway, I have to say it really was a boring race to watch - If it hadn't been for the cracked exhaust on Vettels car reducing his power and allowing the two Ferraris and the McLaren of Hamilton to pass, there wouldn't have been anything worth seeing for 3/4 of the race! :(

I really hope it was just the Bahrain circuit, and that the next race will be a bit more interesting! Even as a life long fan of F1 I have to say that something really must be done to allow overtaking!

Must agree with you Eddy. I have been a moter racing fan for 60 years. From the days of E.R.A. BOB GERARD. BRM.RAYMOND MAYS. & THE 500 COOPERS. Evan raced my own designed and built BRISCA FII stock car. But for the last couple of years I follow moto gp. much more interesting. Geoff   :'( :'(

I'd rather have watched the paint and cement dry on the extra six corners that the old prince had added to his circuit that have to watch that again......won't be any early morning starts for me in future if that is what we are all in for....rather catch my beauty sleep, lol :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( >:(

I thoroughly enjoyed the Australian race, excitement all the way - So much more enjoyable than Bahrain!

Malaysia could throw up a few surprises too - With the distinct potential for heavy rain (remember the race was abandoned last year and half points were awarded), and this year is likely to be the same. So some of the minor teams could score big points, just to liven up the mix a little :)

A slightly better start time too for those of us in Europe to manage!

What a race!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily Webber is unhurt, thanks to the safety rules.

But what could we say about Kobayashi, he did a brilliant job, 53 laps on the prime tyres with many really fast laps, and at the end he caught Alonso and Buemi and made it to 7th. place. Also Pedro finished in the points what a race for us.

I will have a big dram tonight :beer

Yes a great race for Sauber Hans :)

And with 5 cars under investigation for speeding behind the safety car, it is possible that Kobayashi could end up in third place!

i have to laugh at Alonso.....slimey little towrag will try anything to drop hamilton in the doodah...sadly for him, and a lot of the gp watchers..it failed badly today.......and he looked a right **** for doing so, lol ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
