I am a newbie and would like to introduce myself
« on: December 19, 2008, 10:29:44 PM »
I am a retired patternmaker and have been building model boats for over 55 years. I have recently become interested in steam and intend to build a model of The Medway Queen. I have just completed a 1/12 scale model of The Edwardian Thames steam launch Miranda which was featured in Novembers edition of Model Boats.

Do any members know were I can get plans for The Medway Queen, the power plant will be a Cheddar Pegasus V4. Thank you,

Mick ;D

Hey

Welcome, what scale are you planning to build Medway Queen in?

I have a set of frames cut out in my loft waiting to be made into a mould from which to make glassfibre hulls for that ship at 1:32.

I got the plans direct from the Medway Queen Preservation Society, if you need further details, just let me know.

Cheers!

Thank's much appreciated.

It may be of interest to some members if they are visiting The National Science Museum there is a 1/12 scale model of a Shearwater Catamaran which I built in 1957. I also have a model displayed in the United Nations building in New York of a Catamaran built for them as a fisheries protection vessel for Lake Chad in 1959.
Cheers Mick

Excellent photo of and excellent model, anyone know what wood the deck is made of? It looks individually planked, can anyone confirm this? The colour of the wood looks good, darker than a lot I have seen, but not as dark as others, contrasts well with the deckhouses.

Looking forward to seeing how yours shapes up Mick!

Cheers  8)
