Have been making things out of Meccano but they keep sinking! So I have joined your group in the hope of better success. Presently making a steam two cylinder slide valve engine. When it is up and running I will be looking for boat to fit it in. Suggestion welcome.

Welcome to Paddleducks Potbelly!

Mecanno is great stuff, but it takes an age to fill in all those holes if you want to build a  boat from it 

Obviously, as we're primarily a website devoted to modelling Paddlers, the obvious solution is to build a steam powered paddler - At least they tend to stand out from the crowd of steam launches and steam tugs 

Take a look around the site, and see if anything takes your fancy....

Great if you are building a Battleship but it hides all the nice red and green.
I have found a design for a three cylinder single acting paddle engine by the late Henry Greenly. Anyone built this engine? Got any hints/tips about it?

You can get Duck Tape in almost any colour including clear

So it would be appropriate to use Duck Tape on a Paddleducks project.
I have looked at a number of Mr. Greeley's designs, but have not build any yet, is this the one in Stan Brays Book? If it is you need to check to see that all the information is there (I understand that the publishers edited out and cropped and omitted a lot of the original manuscript).

Stan Bray's Model Marine Steam is a great disappointment due to the incomplete and incorrect items. Definitely not recommend. I have had to do additional research to find the missing bits and have been lucky in obtained a copy of the original Model Engineer article on the Three Cylinder Paddle Engine from 1944.
