Hi from Perth Western Australia
« on: November 02, 2008, 10:45:14 PM »
Hi all,

My name is Steve and a very young 55 yr old and a new owner of my very fist metal lathe, interested in making small steam or air engines, some simple designs at first, then hopefully work my way up. I am also into radio controlled aircraft, and again the lathe will come in very handy for making retractable undercarriage etc,

All the best,

Smuttley

(Steve) ;)

Welcome aboard Steve, After you get tired fixing broken RC aircraft (They are like computers Its not if they will crash but when) you should try a RC paddleboat (Please switch to a surface frequency for it) you will find it is much more sociable, you can actually talk to someone while running one.
Regards,
Gerald

Sounds like you have had a go or two with RC flying Gerald, you can't take yah eyes of the things for a second, I go home healing buggered, but I like living on the edge. I have been working in industrial steam plants for many years and always wanted to build my own steam engines, I have only built the flywheel so far, but I think I have done a grand job for first try, just need to get my hands on a milling attachment, so I can mill out many other parts, will post some pics soon of my progress, and maybe pick up some tips and advice,

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve,
I started out as a Free Flight Flyer, then Control Line and finaly early RC. I got tired of repairing aircraft, so I moved on to Gas Cars and Boats did the speed thing with them and then Fast Electric (I was one of the first running Fast Electric in the Toronto area), along the way I graduated in to scale boats and have now settled down mostly with Live Steam.
Regards,
Gerald
