Hi All,

Just joined. Have been interested in steam for as long as I can remember. To may intrests to mention. Steam being near the top of the list. Want to eventually build a steam powered boat. Have built 2 wobbler's and have several steam projects in the works. I'm also interested in live steam model railroading, the 1.5" variety. I have the castings to build a Shay loco.

By the way I came here by the way of a an English gent called "Bogstandard" (John Moore). He built an engine and posted the series to Home Model Engine Machinst. He mentioned this forum. I surfed over and took a look around. I finally decided to join.

Hi PD's .....& welcome Bernd..........@ PD's...we wouldn't necessarily term 'bogstandard' as a 'gent'.....more of a 'chap'..but just in case you don't know  :whistle...the best way to get in his good books would be to post over a 2 lb parcel of GARLIC flavoured BUFFULO bones [& preferably if the meat was roasted after a soaking in red wine] .......for Bandit & Vinnie

BTW...have a look at the series in our Live Steam.....called Engine made of Junk....by the same  :respect Author.........Derek

Thanks for the warm welcome Derek.

I was being nice calling him a gent since I've never met him in person.  ;D Guess I'll have to round up some buffalo bones for them.  :gift  I've seen pics of Bandit, but who's Vinnie?  :thinking

Going to check out "Engine made of Junk".

Regards,
Bernd

 :hehe..PD's...Bernd is just learning

1) John detests garlic & red wine....he reckons that they are both muck... :picknose ...I often threaten a parcel of KANGA bones
2) He also references that he cannot stop smoking as he would have no sketch paper material....so I posted an imaginary ream of 1st Quality Australian paper & a few worn out pencils
3) Vinnie is Bandits adoptive 1/2 brother...from a diffent litter ..like chalk & cheese from what I gather  :nono
4) I think most PD members have the greatest respect for bogstandard...in his technical ability to produce unique detailed components .....& his droll sence of humour
5) I too have not met Mr Moore in person but one evening after a few  :beer I dialed 0011441################## & a lady answered the telephone & I heard her say....." some one from Australia for you....we don't have any relatives there do we?" - bogstandard & I then chewed the fat for 20 minutes or so......TOP bloke our bogstandard.......................Derek

Derek,

I'll have to remember not to send "garlic & red wine" then. ;D

I've seen some of what John called "Crap-O-Cad" drawings on HMEM. They were much better to interpet than some of those fancy 3D modeling program pics some of the member were using.

Bog's never showed a picture of Vinnie, but then reading all about Vinnie here I now understand why.

I also have the greatest respect for him. His tanlent and insight are wonderful and I do like his sense of humor.

I've only exchanged afew e-mails with him. I wish him well.

Regards,
Bernd

This post has gone way off topic, we are supposed to be welcoming Bernd to our great band of merry men.

Welcome Bernd.

But on the other hand, I have two more little people that would like to make your aquaintance, both became famous because of their antics they got up to on here.

The first is Bandit, when he was just a few inches high, and could eat skirting board at an unbelievable rate. The second is as he is now. He has given up on wood now, but by the size of him, he eats almost anything else. The third pic is a very rare shot of Vinnie. This is a standoff between a young Bandit the dog and Vinnie the mog. It still happens daily, but even though Vin has now lost his right hip due to arguing with a car, he usually comes out on top. A real hard nut.

Just enjoy yourself

John

Now I feel officially welcomed. Why? Because John has said so. :clap

Off topic? :thinking  Naw I don't think so.  ???

Yup, remember Bandit from the "other place", but no Vinnie. Bandit has become a bit chubby with old age, but then don't we all. :o

Thanks John, I will enjoy myself. I also hope to contribute a bit of knowledge and perhaps a build or two of something useful.

Bernd

P.S. I tried to answer your e-mail but it bounced back. E-mail me when you get your new ISP and are settled in.

Hey Bernd!

I am starting to feel like a cyber stalker! Been registered here for about a year and decided to finally start being active.
